Trauma-Informed Counselling for Trauma and PTSD

Trauma can affect the nervous system, emotions, body, relationships, and sense of safety. Some people experience intrusive memories, avoidance, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, shame, or difficulty feeling present. Others may notice the effects of trauma without identifying with a particular diagnosis.

Quartz Counselling provides a compassionate and collaborative space to explore these experiences. We prioritize safety, choice, and pacing rather than pushing you to discuss anything before you are ready.

How we may work together

Our work may include Internal Family Systems, relational, trauma-informed, emotion-focused, and client-centred perspectives. Together, we may explore protective responses, emotional and bodily signals, relationships, meaning-making, and ways of strengthening internal and external sources of support. The focus will be guided by your goals and readiness.

You may be seeking support with

Intrusive memories, nightmares, or emotional triggers
Hypervigilance, fear, or feeling constantly on alert
Avoidance, numbness, or disconnection
Shame, guilt, or self-blame
Dissociation or difficulty feeling present
Relationship difficulties following trauma
Rebuilding a sense of safety and trust
Processing experiences at a manageable pace

A supportive next step

You do not have to tell your whole story in the first session. An initial appointment can focus on what feels most important now, your goals, and what would help counselling feel safer and more supportive.
